Light robot arm speeds packaging Print E-mail

A range of automated packaging machines are now equipped with a lightweight robot arm, which is much lighter than on older machines and shortens packaging cycle times
Schubert's automated packaging machines now have a new, lightweight robot arm. The TLM-F44 robot stations now have the TLM-F4 unit. It is smaller, lighter and more efficient than the previous aluminium version. The lighter arm is made of carbon fibre and weighs 25% less than its predecessor so it can achieve even faster cycle times.

In addition, the gears in the new unit are also designed to provide longer service life as they feature the same high-contact system typically used in the automotive industry.

The new unit complies with all the latest health and safety regulations covering work area monitoring of robots. Schubert has also launched a machine that offers a wider variety of frame sizes.

The redesign means operating control panels can be incorporated into safety door pillars.

Also a more streamlined conveyor structure allows better maintenance access to the packaging system.

The new developments coincide with a significant increase in business for its automated packaging machines, particularly from the beverage industry.

Numerous top names in the global drinks industry have ordered Schubert systems for a variety of packaging applications, said the company.

'The design modifications mean Schubert systems are even more flexible and offer extremely quick changeover times between different packaging configurations'.

'A range of tasks, for example, carton erecting, filling and closing, can be easily integrated into the same machine,' commented Alan Law, Schubert UK's managing director.

'As far as the beverage industry is concerned, Schubert machines are very cost-effective as they can use many types of packaging consumables so that customers are free to purchase their own supplies without any requirement for a lengthy tie-in with a specific packaging supplier,' he added.

Schubert UK, based in Meriden, near Coventry, has recently won a substantial number of new contracts from manufacturers of snack foods, drinks, healthcare and pharmaceutical products.
