First Woman, Indian to Win Engelberger Robotics Award Print E-mail

Bala Krishnamurthy, founder and chief executive officer of Aeolean Inc., is the first woman and the first person of Indian origin to win the Engelberger Robots Award for Technology Development. She was awarded at a gala banquet for the International Symposium on Robotics June 13 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.
 

Krishnamurthy has a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's in both applied mathematics and computer science. She has developed robotic systems ranging from hydraulic manipulators for the auto manufacturing industry to mobile sensate robots for commercial use, and has also published several papers on robotics, according to an Aeolean press release.

Aeoleon Inc. provides consulting for the design and development of safety and mission-critical systems relying on robotic automation.
